Quick Story of a New Fan!

I was basically just a model builder of figure model kits like the old AURORA Monsters of the 1960's and the ADDAR Planet of the Apes of the 1970's.
This was until FTC started to release the 1966 Batman figures in the old Mego style and I started to collect these as well as model kits.
I had the Batman Mego's in the 70's and LOVED them.
I never collected the Mego, Planet of the Apes figures because (to me) they just didn't look enough like what they were supposed to look like.

I had recently read where a member of the MM posted that he picked up a new Mego styled Gorilla Solider of a new Planet of the Apes series by NECA at Toys R Us.
Well, I had a Doctor's appointment this past Friday morning and decided to stop at Toys R Us afterwards to see about getting one for myself.

As it turned out, they didn't have the Mego styled Ape BUT they did have the NECA 7 inch series.
Ursus was the first one that I picked up and just looking at him in the store, I was totally amazed at the detail of this figure, it was gorgeous.
So, I bought Ursus, Zira, Zauis and the Gorilla Solider two pack.

When I got them home and began to pose them for display, I fell even more in love with these figures.
    I was totally blown away!
I'm going out of my mind because I don't get paid for another two weeks and I want to buy series 1 on eBay or Amazon as well as the Lawgiver statue. (I hate waiting).

I had NO idea that these figures even existed up until two days ago but now that I do, I'm in for the long haul.
I plan to buy everything in this line and I'm looking forward to more releases.
    These figures are the best!
    Thanks Neca!

^^ They really are so damn fun and well done as consistent line across multiple series. I've appreciated NECA's candor with the r&d and the dialogue with the fan response almost as much as the toys themselves. It's really been the best chapter in Apes fandom in quite some time. A good ride towards the 50th anniversary.

I also have read Apes Day had impact of note, if not with TRU, certainly with the online sellers.

Oh, and now Dirty Damn Geeks have declared National Planet of the Apes Day to keep the celebration rollin': https://www.facebook.com/events/1621367448094156/

For whatever reason, NECA is calling this a "potential future".
        I hope this line continues.

Cool looking figure... One thing though, I would have rather seen him with a waist belt (ala Urko in houseofdracula's post)... None of the lieutenants in the TV series ever wore the standard ammo bandolier... (And besides that, the bandolier is covering his "stripes" )

^^ I think the TV series suffered from a lack of props in general on the backside of all the movies… many of the Gorillas across ranks were without bandos.

I did think the same thing tho, but then decided it would be fitting to just move it to one of the Battle/2-Pack Soldiers. The better solution, as so many POTA collectors are army building with this series, would be a big bad Ape Army Accessories Megapack with battle flags, belts, horns, keys, ropes, whips, etc.
