I'm always all in when it comes to custom experiments. I'm just used to more of a pronounced reaction.
With this chemical, should I expect the heads to eventually start growing a bit and taking in the chemical?
    Cheers,

There was no swelling of the head, like with acetone.

So the head will not grow and the paint is not affected.
This oily compound is much more dense than the acidic paint removing chemicals.
Is there anything I can use to gauge the process. (aside from buying another Adama)
Are there catalysts to the chemical reaction that are a factor. Heat, sunlight, etc...
        Cheers,

All I did was try to measure that Sheldon head before I started.

I did not try any catalysts such as heat.

I would make sure that some of the chemical gets inside the head though. The hole in the neck plug was small.

I have done acetone head shrinks from the inside out, so I made certain the hole was large enough to allow free access by the chemical.
Will the head soften up or anything? It is tough when you need to depend on the slow shrink.
That slow shrink factor can take place over such a prolonged period.

I hate going back to look at a custom months later and finding that things got weird.

I think this is why people with small heads are called beetlejuice (my brother Kevan's cat too)

After a week in the chemical bath I still have roughly the same results as the posted photos at best. Adama's eyes are a little glazed by white at this point, but his head size has had little to no change.
One positive item to note: The "skunky smell" of the Naphtha chemical, while intense does dissipate quickly. It can be used to remove paint, but a lot of scrubbing is involved.
It is fair to say that Naphtha's shrinking effects are perhaps on par with it's use as a paint remover. Minimal.
In contrast, application of Acetone causes paint to run off like water, but also allows for swift and intense shrinkage.
IE: Into the acetone bath you go Alfred...

(If Only Brian Leitner can come to my rescue in repainting the head)

I bought this FTC hero head just to shrink it.
I submerged it for 24 hours, and then 24 hours out. Nothing.
Then 48 hours, and 24 out. Nothing.
I should have gone straight through, but I need this head shrunk down now, not in January!

Here's the awful balloon head next to the awesomely sized Cast-A-Way hero head:

He went back for another dunk into fresh Naptha just now.
I may have to just paint this CAW head so I can finish my project, and use this blue guy later on.
In the meantime, I'll just keep him in the Naptha.

I used to work at a sign company a long time ago and we used to use naphtha to remove adhesive residue on painted pieces because it did not damage the paint. I've also used it on cars to remove residue from decals, etc.
