It's a weird world where the hero can eviscerate an enemy, ripping him to pieces, and most people are fine with that, but showing a woman's (covered) behind is considered an outrage.
Hypocrisy has become so strong, I can only shake my head and sigh. What's wrong with showing someone's body? And if it offends you, look the other way.

Less brutality, more butts, is what I say. And the world will be a better place...

^I have a problem with both. It's not so much the way the bodies are rendered, it's the positions they are in, and the faces they are making. These are porn stars with super hero costuming spray-painted on them. As fan art, it's fine. The internet is full of that stuff. But Marvel ought to know better. Just my opinion.

I think if you see a Milo Manara book, you know it's not going to be My Little Pony.
        Erotic art is his specialty.
But look at comic book of the latest 10-15 years.
All women are erotic in it:

When have you seen an X-Men that didn't look like he or she was a model with a perfect (sexy) body?

I was not familiar with the artist until this thread. And I understand comic artists draw sexy women. That's been going on since Matt Baker drew Phantom Lady, at the very least. But in the panels above, the X-women don't appear to be in mid-orgasm while standing around, unlike the cover with the waterfall that was posted.

I just think it's going a bit too far, just like the over-the-top violence in comics nowadays.

You know, I like Bruce Timm. My wife gifted me "Bad Girls by Bruce Timm", not quite realizing how bad they were! But it's a gorgeously illustrated book, and you know what, it doesn't bother me. Because while Timm can't help but draw sexy women, he doesn't have his Gotham Girls splayed out in mid-climax when he's working on mainstream stuff. That's my beef here.

Emma Frost has been dressing provocatively since the early 80's.

and not just in the comics

and also recently rendered by Manara as a variant cover...
(he's been doing variant covers for the past year, one has to wonder why the controversy erupted over the Spider-Woman one).

^I think it's all in the...er...positioning, and the "O" faces on the other cover. The Emma Frost one above is typical comic cheesecake. The others are a bridge farther, IMHO.

read the comments, lol. I tend to agree, its just a really bad physically impossible position, especially the potential giraffe neck or floating head.

I'm not familiar with this Manara, but honestly, I thought that Spider-Woman was somebody's fan art. Never would have guessed it was by a professional.

Let's sic those commenters on some Kirby art next, and some Ditko, and Picasso and any other artist that exaggerates the form. I'd love to hear what these ham-and-eggers have to say.

There's a big difference between Kirby, Ditko, and this guy. Manara is obviously trying for realism, not exaggeration, and on that particular piece he fails.

Is he? I can't sit here and say he isn't trying to exaggerate the form. Can you?
