Since it's a Korean production with a largely Western cast, and a European Bluray version that I watched, my only difficulty was that large chunks of Korean dialogue weren't subtitled or translated. But that's what the internet is for I guess.
Shame on the Weinsteins for not giving this the wide release it deserves in North America after butting heads with the producers over narration and editing for a western audience. It's about as subtle as a sledgehammer.... North Americans are going to get it.
I think this is an interesting trend given the recent North American cinematic translation of the Japanese Mange All You Need is Kill into The Edge of Tomorrow. Here we have Koreans adapting a European BD/graphic novel, and casting largely American/British actors.Comment

SPOILERS!!!!
I liked it, but it's a very odd film.
It starts out all serious. Then we get Tilda Swinton doing a OTT Nanny McFee style bit.
And the movie keeps switching between those two styles, going from hardcore action to social satire and morality tale within a single minute. And the slow parts really hurt the movie, because the morality tale "Damn you, rich people, living off the backs of the workers" really gets shoved down your throat.
And while one character is still doing a funny bit, all of a sudden the lead character sits down to tell about his days when he ate babies (and other people's arms and legs)...
You don't know when to laugh or cry.
I'd say it's an interesting film, and a worthy effort to voice social commentary. But they should have toned it down a bit. Now it kind of felt like a traveling circus...Last edited by Gorn Captain; Aug 28, '14, 11:04 AM..
