I'm a huge fan of LOTR, but The Hobbit just isn't working for me.
There's nothing left of the feel of the original book. It's all "bigger and better!"
Too much stuff in there that just doesn't belong, they just want to re-do LOTR. Tolkien wouldn't be very pleased...
I thought the first chapter was ok, but the second one felt like a rollercoaster ride with no stops.
I'll probably catch part three when it's on TV....

Totally agree. I loved LOTR, and I was immensely looking forward to the Hobbit movies. But the first two left me bored and unmoved. I'll see the finale, but will be going in with low expectations and hopes of being pleasantly surprised.Comment

I will say they aren't as satisfying at the LOTR which I loved!Comment

That's big production for ya.
I know it's a huge clash and expansion, but I still love The Hobbit films!
Love LotR.
I'm in! Big time.Comment

I am too programmed for Rankin Bass. I still have my vinyls with the storybook, and I can pretty much still speak along line for line. I just can't not react to Legolas as "You're not supposed to be here." I like the new take, but I enjoyed LotR much more because I didn't have the preconceived notions I have for Hobbit.Comment

Opening this week. Rotten Tomatoes currently has positive reviews at 70%, which is right in line with the first two movies.Comment
