Great news, I really liked Pacific Rim.
Loads of fights, a sense of humor, and Del Toro's obvious love for the subject.

To be honest, at this time Del Toro is the only director that gets me into a movie theatre without hesitation. All the rest, Spielberg, Jackson, etc, they don't have it anymore.

My brain went 'dur' when I posted that. I meant they need better guns. Kind of like those big hand guns they use in Gundam.

I thought the first movie was well done and good fun.

I do worry a bit where they are going with the concept... I'm hoping it is slightly more sophisticated than "even tougher kaiju show up, and fight newer, more powerful jaegers".

I loved this movie so much. I'm not even a big Kaiju fan, but this worked for me. Del Toro has a sense of humor that permeates his work. This movie was a gift that was heads and shoulders above its bigger name competition. I am blessed enough to have a home theater projector in my basement, and the 3-D in this film is perhaps the best I've ever seen.

So bummed about the sequel.

Can't understand why Disney isn't grovelling at Del Toro's feet for him to do a Star Wars movie. His sense of humor can sometimes be considered "Lucasian"
