Super8 and 8mm film professional transfer by me

I am looking to buy another machine to add to my digital workshop.
I have had my family's 8mm and Super8 film for decades - and since I am the 'I.T' guy in the family, they just figured I could transfer it - well, I can't.
They would be satisfied with me just filming off the projector screen - yuck. Flicker and bright hotspot from the lamp...umm no.

    Well, hello 2014.
I have the ability to buy a machine to professionally transfer this stuff and it looks gorgeous in HD.

Most online places charge $50 plus shipping for a 7" reel (and have a minimum transfer requirement) - some of those people have the machine, some still use the ancient mirror-box trick.

I could probably do it for $35 per 7" reel..or even less if demand was high enough. I just want to pay off the machine in a year.

    Thoughts? Takers? Interest?

If it can also do 16 MM prints I'd be in for at least 2 transfers and possibly another 18 transfers. I have 2 original 16MM Iron Man Marvel Super Hero cartoons that will need transfering. If it's the machine that I am thinking of it is expensive.

I might be able to throw some work your way. I used to do it with the mirror box and have been asked several times to do it for people. I have been holding them off cause it's too much of a pain.

Well, the GFM account never did anything. Two and a half years later, I just bought a machine on my own. Once I get it next week, get it installed, I anticipate being able to take orders soon.

I will, thanks. I am still hoping to buy a domain and hosting; do the transfers and let clients download their media instead of authoring DVDs to keep costs lower. Most of the world is going digital media anyways, just the next logical step. Equipment is due to arrive Friday, so this weekend should be fruitful.

                              That would be cool...

Would love to transfer Super 8 and 8mm to DVD. Then I could edit and add modern soundtracks, special-effects, etc...do wonders with the old footage...it would be awesome indeed.
