Black dye for Mego outfits

Looking to dye some Mego clothing from blue to black. Is there any makes of dye that can be recommended? Or would any old black dye do? Any tips for getting the best results?

A lot of people swear by Rit Dye, so that may be a good one to try... Or, I seem to remember someone using a permanent marker to color their outfit black so you could try that as well...

I don't think I'd try the permanent marker bit unless you talk directly to someone who has done it before. I know the color can bleed into plastic and spread over time when used directly on it. Case in point... My brother used a permanent marker to touch up the eyebrows on a captain kirk head some 20 years ago, and today a third of his face is now purple. Would hate to see something like that damage your figure.
