for me it was the exact opposite... as a kid, I couldn't figure out ET for the life of me. As far as I could figure out, it was a game about walking around and falling into holes.Comment

Or a ton of old tv from the early days that was dumped into NYC's East river...
...nonetheless, this is cool!

Supposedly Hasbro did the same thing with GI Joe in the 80's. Heard stories about it forever. Even that some stuff has been pulled up but nothing ever confirmed. Wouldn't be surprised to hear Mego buried some stuff. It's not a doll it's an action figure.Comment

I am surprised with the old becoming new again in video games, the the ET has surfaced again.Visit my wiki site:

I think I'm alone but I liked it. At least I played it a great deal. I may have been forcing it a little but i certainly put in the hours.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

I found Pac-man much more playable than E.T.. It probably wouldnt have gotten so much negative feedback had it been called "muncher" or something similar. It was just to much to live up to.
E.T. was a major rush job and is an example of the culture of the early '80s to release anything. All those crappy, unplayable 2600 games and the (i think biggest) Atari 5200 ruined the console industry. The success of that little computer called the Commodore 64 played a part in that though.
From what I understand its going to become a documentary.Comment

Actually I kind of liked E.T. as well. I remember borrowing it from a friend for a few weeks and playing it a lot. Maybe because I didn't spend my own money on it made me less critical of the game though. Pacman for the 2600 sucked but I didn't have much choice at the time so played it anyway.
I went right from the 2600 to the Commodore 64. The games that Atari made for the 64 were pretty damn good translations of the arcade versions.Comment
