I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the genre. Can anybody clarify?

Think... 8" or 12" versions of Micronaut's Time travelers (the translucent color guys with chrome heads) with accessories that can be swapped out for their hands or attached to them.

The Henshen Cyborg line of toys was what the Microman toy line was based upon.

(And Microman is the Japanese toy line Micronauts was based upon which is where the Mego connection comes from)

            ....

The history is pretty cool actually. Takara licensed GI Joe from Hasbro in the late 60's, COMBAT JOE. Well as you'd imagine little Japanese kids were not too hot on Americanized soilder figures. Not wanting to waste molds, Takara quickly cast them in clear and added the chest engines and inner brains and Henshin Cyborg was born. Looking to capitalize on live action shows of the time they quickly added licensed character costumes (like Captain Action) of common Japanese heroes like Ultraman and Kamen Rider etc. There were also villains and accessory add ons... way ahead of it's time in my opinion. Just like the big Joes the oil embargo made them rethink the plastic consumption and shrink them down for playsets and vehicles. MicroMan was born... who came to America as Micronauts ( with a brief layover in the UK as Cyborg, in 8 inch form), so now I am bringing them back as more or less a MEGOized version in 8 inch, with the flavor of both Henshin Cyborg and Microman/Micronauts (Calling it Henshin X).

The plan is to have around 30 Protosamples at MEGO meet for sale. This will help me gauge the interest, if it's there I may go into full production.

I bet you could pre-sell out of that before the meet.

Oh man I've been waiting for this for 30 years!!!
I was really pumped when you mentioned the clear bodies as I was going to make my own.
But this goes beyond awesome.I think I already guessed this back in March on the clear body thread...
Thank you for making this happen!!

Yeah, no doubt! And Paul, thanks for the Henshin you gave me. Still have it and really dig it!

                      Dave,

Are those heads vacuum metal or metallic paint?

YES! I love the convoluted history from GI Joe to Micronauts. It's one of the coolest toy stories ever.

And these will be pretty awesome on that new body.

Very cool. vI'd buy an 8" version of that, you can put me down for at least one.

Be cool to have some mechanical and fleshy innards mixed in there.

Awww, heck yeah!! This is great. Unfortunately, I cant make it to the meet, but I would definitely buy one if there are any remaining! I think they use paint that looks like vacuum formed metal, right David or Craig? I seem to remember AcroRay mentioning that on the Micropolis Embassy Yahoo group about the advances in making the reflective parts. I'm so excited to see these coming down the line
