I have a Zaius and a Cornelius set here on my desk, were you able to get the heads off easy? or did you have to break the body open?

The heads are a softer plastic than the bodies, but I just held it under hot water for a while until I could pull it off the body easily.
        That sounded sinister

It reminds me of the cartoon! Great job. I luvz it.
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.

I wish I had seen this one week ago, just before I passed on several of these figures at really low prices. But, already having two in my collection was, I felt, more than enough.

...and now, for the life of me, I cannot find those two loose Ape figures. But I am determined.

Just a quick update to an old post - I finally got the Cornelius. Like the Zaius, Hasbro really slapped on the paint. But once I got the paint off (acetone is my friend) there really is a very nice chimp headsculpt under there:

The other chimps look forward to getting a new friend!

This is what I love about the Museum: so many talented members can take a sow's ear and make a silk purse of it.

Looking forward to seeing your figure with this head--your Zaius-Virgil was sweet!

Aaand he's done. I think. For now. Sorry that took a while.

He came out pretty good. I haven't quite figured out which character he looks like though. I don't think he looks much like Cornelius/Caesar/Galen at all. Maybe Dr. Milo? Or a guest chimp from the TV series?

Here's the full group of the Hasbro ape figures I've "Megofied" so far: orangutan, chimp, and gorilla. They actually made two gorillas, a generic soldier and a TV series sergeant, but as far as I can tell the two headsculpts are the same.

                              Fun stuff!

He turned out pretty nice, good paints...

And about the Hasbro APES figures: As far as I can tell, you're right about there not being any difference between the two Gorillas they made (but there should have been )
