Wow, that's crazy. Great picture, too. Reminds me of me...minus the pee pants. Wanna know what my original Mego collection consisted of?
Aquaman with torn leggings and a limp wrist,
The Penguin w/super-frayed jacket
and Mr. Mxyzptlk, all 2nd hand.
They were found at a yard sale around 1990 and given to me. Being born in 82, I completely missed the Mego era, so when I got these it was like discovering the remains of some lost civilization. They were fascinating...much cooler than my Super Powers guys. My uncles vaguely remembered them in stories. Then when I found pictures of the rest of the WGSH line in one of my grandmother's old doll collector books, it was like seeing pictures of the holy grail.
Fastforward another 18 years, and I've spent a small fortune (and disturbed a large number of family and friends with my "dolls") completing a collection I only ever dreamed about. It sounds funny, but it's a dream fulfilled. Albeit the dream of an eight-year old, he finally did it. And the really creepy part? Sometimes I catch myself just staring up at them with this goofy grin on my face, like the frosted mini-wheats kid part of me has just been running loose for an hour or so. But, I think no matter how old you get, ultimately life should always be about appeasing your inner eight-year-old.Comment

I didn't have nearly that many as a kid.
I had Superman, Batman, Robin, Penguin, Joker, Mxysptlk, Isis, SHAZAM, Wondergirl, Captain America, Conan, Spiderman and Hulk.
All but the girls survived childhood. (Both have been replaced)
Conan and Joker were lost at college. (Both have been replaced)
Superman, Robin, SHAZAM, and Captain America were replaced with better figures between 96-2000 some original parts of mine were used in the "upgrades" (in hindsight I wish I'd kept the well played with ones)
My Hulk and Batman are in bad shape but even though I have much nicer ones in the collection the tattered ones also are on display.
A few minor repairs have been done to Green Goblin, Thor, Mxy, Penguin, spiderman but these pretty much remain the ones I had in the state they were in.
Nowadays - I have over 100 megos on display.Comment
