Do you think Planet of the Apes has another shot?

Not sure if DST still has the license but do you think with another new Planet of the Apes film coming out, that the time is right to give the ReMegos another chance? Perhaps with some new sculpts/characters that were never done? (HESTON!)

although I guess NECA has the license currently? Don't know if that covers 8" cloth.

I would like to see them complete their original offerings with a Gorilla, soldier a General Ursus/Urko and an astronaut.

They don't want to do ReMegos of the Apes, claim that the Diamond stuff is still out there.

I asked if the classic line does well could we see "mego" versions.

Any chance FTC could produce 8" Mego Style Apes, or is NECA's licensing deal inclusive to all scales?

NECA has the license for the new movies and classic POTA so they are the only ones who could do it.

That said, POTA has a very loyal but small fan base - myself being one of them. When DST and EMCE
were making ours, Sideshow was making gorgeous 12 inch ones. Added to that, Fox would not let us
make any characters outside the first movie, so it was a non-starter.

It's a shame Fox is so narrow minded. I mean if they had allowed you to do figures for the other movies and the TV show,I'd imagine they'd sell pretty well.

They look to be articulated at the ankles, knees, hips (look at Zaius), waist (swivel only?), neck (turn only?), shoulders, elbows, and wrists. Seems the sculpt is meant hide the obvious movements, which is pretty cool approach. Of course, this may in fact impede the range of movement as well.

I'm liking the Soldier Ape, the other two not so much. Zaius looks resigned & defeated, and the length of neck & droop of shoulders on Cornie looks...corny.

I never had any Mego POTA growing up, and I missed out on the re-Mego versions. I would be first in line to buy new POTA 8inch Megos if NECA would only make them. Since they feel there is already the retro versions "out there", I'd be happy to get modern sculpting like DST's Universal Monsters.

I think EMCE's apes would have really taken off if NEW characters were mixed in. Too bad it ended when it did, they were perfect.

Not a huge fan of the format but I think a 3 3/4 POA line would be awesome

I'm glad they didn't overdo the articulation.
It spoils the look and flow of the clothes.
And what we will do, is get the figure out, use the articulation during about five minutes (tops), and then never move that figure again.
