Amazing what the after-market is doing on the price of Sulu's. Although I guess the huge popularity of George Takai, the fact that he's a crucial missing Bridge Crew, and there are only a fraction of the ReMegos made compared to the mass market production of the originals probably contributes to his demand.
DST would probably do well to reissue Sulu, Gorn and the Romulan again given the demand. -
Yep, a couple of those could be re-issued. Sulu and Chekov, the Romulan..

It's interesting to me that there are still reasonably priced Chekovs to be had, but Sulu is no where to be found any where near retail anymore. I know they were often sold in pairs as well, would if have anything to do with Sulu being sold with Gorn and Chekov paired with Cheron (seemingly eve less desirable... would they have done better with a more screen accurate rather than repro?)
cheron as low as $10, quite plentiful in the wild.

I checked the sold listings and one Sulu figure sold for $50.00 on Jan 7th. But that was it. When I sorted by completed listings to see if any were being overlooked because of pricing there was no difference. Just this one figure. It's fascinating to watch demand on figures. I've seen old figure lines relegated to near junk status only to be renewed by another generation or simple change in attitude. I think just about all figure lines eventually reach some level of value if the license itself was ever popular.

This guy wants $250.00 for a retro Romulan. I picked up all these when they released and still have all of them on card except for Kirk, Spock, Klingon and Andorian. May turn into a good investment.Comment

fandom ebbs and flows depending on it's current cultural cachet.
I don't think anyone could have predicted how mainstream Doctor Who has gotten in recent years if they were judging by the lean years after the Fox movie.
I think it's awesome to see Teens and Twentysomethings dressed in old school Trek uniforms because of the Abrams movies. I think it's really given a boost to TOS as well. The internet and on demand etc has made Shatner's Kirk et al readily accessible to that generation.
They are going back and discovering stuff like Wrath of Khan, Space Seed, all the previous incarnations of The Doctor. Because even with today's Reboot mentality, in their minds, old Trek and Doctor Who is still "in continuity" with the new stuff... Leonard Nimoy hanging around.Comment
