Goo Gone may work. Don't use alcohol! Alcohol will only regenerate the glue, making it gooey and sticky. Using fabric, paper towel or tissue, will only leave glue and lint residue.
'Lighter fluid' dissolves glue very well. It's 'The old book sellers trick'. With 'lighter fluid', lint is not much of an issue. Once the glue is dissolved, lint brushes off very easy.
