Doctor Who at BBP No More!

    From BBP:

Our license with BBC America to produce Doctor Who merchandise has expired. While we'll miss the good Doctor, his adversaries and allies, we are excited to shift our resources to focus on an array of fantastic new items from other top brands and licensors.

Our remaining inventory can be found at entertainmentearth.com. No additional announced or unannounced items will be produced.

A disappointment, to be sure. It's a real shame, as there were so many wonderful things to still be done.

Yeah, I've known about this for a little while. Before the conspiracy theorists come out of the woodwork, it has nothing to do with sales (they were generally very good) or the action figures, at all. BBC seems to be making some changes internally and BBP (among others) are not being renewed.

I thought the writing seemed a bit on the wall with a few clues here and there, but I was hoping this wouldn't be the case. It's possible this is all gearing up for the launch of Capaldi's series, I guess.

Yeah, I imagine they've lined some new folks. I can't say I want to buy anything.

I only bought a few of BBP's non-Retro stuff. But I enjoyed things like the license plate frame and the metallic water bottle (though the printing rubbed off quickly.) I feel like they definitely filled a certain niche. I mean, who knows, with the way the BBC works in relation to the British public, maybe they wanted to give the license to a British company or something. All of that'd be idle speculation, in any case. But I would have loved to have gotten all the Doctors, at least in this form.

IDW also lost the Doctor Who comic book license.

Definitely seems like the BBC is renegotiating larger fees, etc, to capitalize on the success of the newer Doctor Who TV series.

That's a shame---I was really looking forward to the 10th Doctor in re-Mego form.

Never mind the 10th Doctor, I wanted the 8th Doctor! I really, REALLY wanted to see if they could get a good sculpt of Paul McGann! Not to mention how they would handle the outfit.

I also wanted the 6th Doctor. Also, to see how they would handle the outfit.

I'll be honest ... I'm happy that I got the Tardis, K9, Tom Baker and a few baddies like the Cyberman.

That was really my Doctor Who "era". Mind you I was definitely in to collect all the doctors.

Ah well... I guess that leaves customs to fill out the figures I wanted.

Peter Davidson is definitely high on my list.

Still want my army of multi coloured Daleks.

Wow what a massive shame, but we certainly got some great product out of them, just sorry to add all those figures that we saw, to the list of what could of been.

Another series that got my hopes up, and then stumbled and fell without reaching its full potential.
Disappointment is not a strong enough word.
Well, with the Universal Monsters and Doctor Who done, that kind of ends my 8" figure collecting.

Real shame. Glad I got what I got of course. Wish BBP had focused more on the 4th (which is mostly what they did anyway) but I think the license was better suited for that. At least we got a 1st Doc, I suppose.

That's too bad. I'm glad to hear that it wasn't due to poor sales. In retrospect, I wish we got more Doctors and companions instead of baddies, but the plans were to have an ongoing series, so the choices made sense. However, I am glad we got the Dalek before it ended!

Hopefully Jason will blow us away in 2014 with new lines and characters!
