Wow, that was FUN! Great work Austin, Jim and all involved. I love the line about Thunderbird being "that great INDIAN super hero". Totally non-PC Mego.

Catalogs, commercials, custom figures? Tour de Force! You wrote the script for the narrator? That's TV worthy. Jim did video and editing?

Austin handled the directing, scripting and camera... all I did was cut it up and add a little post-processing following his direction. Austin is indeed the genius behind this project. Spielberg who?

Yes, I posted on this, and I'm posting again! This totally captures the Mego spirit of the 70s. This is what we remember from watching after-school and Saturday morning cartoons. And this is how I wish kids could still play today. I wish I had the skills to do something like this. I'd make a whole pile of Mego (and other 70s action figure) goodness! BRAVO!

I saw this yesterday and I thought I had commented but I don't see my comment anywhere. Oh well, better late than never...

Awesome job! The X-men were my favorite Marvel heroes for years (Until Grant Morrison ruined them) so I really appreciate this project. You got everything perfect (except Gambit sneaking in there ). Is it wrong that I know where all your props came from? (Sentinel hand, octo-arms, etc...)

Hey, megowgsh, do you play with your custom figures or are they just display ware?

The figures are all awesome. I think my favorite remains Sunfire, as he is the only one I never made a version of myself...

But, is it wrong that I love the commercials and fake catalogue pages even more than the figures themselves?!

I think the best line in the commercial is the "Falconesque" one: "Thunderbird, that great Indian superhero". So Un-PC, so perfectly 70s, and absolutely Mego-ish.

The only time the illusion was broken for me was Collusus. Great tag line, but I don't think the word "Soviet" would've found its way into a toy commercial then... Still love it though. They probably would've done something more vanilla and banal-- like "The Steel Siberian".

I was sad to not see TV Reb Brown Captain America in the Americar in the catalogue page. I love that figure.

I guess you can relax now...

But there is always a Peter Hooten Dr Strange to do..

                              Or Hasselhoff Nick Fury

                              Of Nicholas Hammond Spiderman

                              Matt
Warm up?! We may as well sit around this cigarette!
