I was surprised, too, when I read in the book that these characters were not popular (Although I do remember Iron Man's nose/face freaked me a bit). My thrill as a kid back then to finally have some foes for Spider-man to face was great. I always thought the sewn tail for the Lizard was a wonderful design choice rather than an unmovable plastic or rubber tail with an insert cut out of the pants. Again, looking back at me as a kid, the stuffed cloth tail provided much abuse without actual damage to Spidey.

I remember my cousin buying an Iron Man at Child's World around 1980, and it was also boxed.

I also just remembered that this box is the first issue one with the original Mego logo, so this figure was really sitting around waiting to be bought for quite awhile!
