This looks awesome but I'm curious if the propeller mechanism works and if the shark is submersible?

"no" on the propeller and it's probably best left out of the tub. It's painted and sealed "plastic" as opposed to molded plastic.

My shark is not motorized.
There's a pic somewhere in this thread that shows the tail section as all one piece.
Also, the martial this is made of could become brittle with prolonged exposure to direct water (from what I've read).
