Back to Wheeling - Hotel Registration link for Mego Meet 10 - June 6-7, 2014
The rental cars are unbelievable. Guess I'm gonna wait until last minute to see if any deals come around. They're 3X what I paid last year. Other than that I've found airfares to be pretty good right now. Booked round trip for $167. Was over $200 last year. Still out the door early on Sunday morning though. Mid morning flight out on Sunday added $160 to the total. Gotta be in the airport for 6:30 am as usual. That's probably been the one bad thing so far but it's been that way for the past 2 years. Does get me home by mid-late morning though. Going in earlier this year too. Separate the travel days a little more.
Thanks guys, obviously wouldn't miss Mego Meet for many things but this is at the top of the list. I was iffy anyway with the possibility of a new job and vacation time allotted. Have fun boys . . . . If that was ever in question
Funny. I looked at the prices to see what it might cost if I can go this year, and the airfares were too much (but Southwest only accepts booking until June 6th), so I'd have to wait and hope for a better deal, but when I checked Hotwire (my normal route for rental cars) the prices were just above $100 all in for 3 days, which is about what I've paid every year.

Pittsburgh is definitely the closest airport, and both US Airways and Southwest usually both have at least one nonstop a day (although times might not be great). Airfares are not as cheap as they used to be, but if you can wait for a good Southwest nationwide sale, US Airways will usually match it. Right now, fares are over $400 Roundtrip, and over $450 for nonstops, but you can probably get closer to $300 if you keep an eye on the fare sales.

Thinking about flying in from AZ for the meet, what's the closest airport?
I got my car last year for 10.95 a day, plus all the taxes from Hotwire. I booked that last minute and got a better deal. My airfare was great, but there are limited return flights for the best price. this will be the 3rd year I have to be in Pittsburgh at 6:00 AM but it's not too bad. Saved me about $100. Total airfare was under $200. Of course they just announced my daughters graduation, which was always in May will now be in June. On the Wednesday I was booked to leave. Delta's fee to change my departure was $200 on a roundtrip flight that didn't cost me that, so I am just gonna book another departure and eat my original cost. Lost a night at the hotel too, because I always book the cheaper non cancel option. Total it'll cost me about $150 but I've lost worse at the casino.
