Wow...even though my first love is ugly AJ, I really do like this sculpt, especially the bearded version. But will there be an African American version?

That's great to hear - I'd love seeing all sorts of multicultural AJ's (and Action Ladies, too!), as I can see this AJ line having great kid appeal. Having an AJ figure that reflects a kid's ethnicity could be a nice positive influence on a kid's self-esteem ("Mom! He/she looks like me!").

here is a quick and dirty of what they look like painted... take this with a GIGANTIC bolder sized grain of salt... the real paint will blow this away... but it's way more fun to visualize...
