Custom Mego/ERTL hybrids

So I started messing around with ERTL Trek figures and thought it would have been cool if they used Mego heads sculpts so I decided to make it happen. I did Kirk, Spock, Scotty, McCoy, Decker, and then I started using other Mego heads and customized Sulu, Chekov, Mr Adventure, and a couple extra crew. Check out my pick on my Flickr link. I used some paints on the uniforms and painted the eyes. I need to make the rank and other detailed but these are very cool. I had to use a dremel or and exacto to make te heads fit but they look good. Thanks

I have tried. The best base figure to look at is the Black Hole Kate McRae. Hard part is the chest insignia. Used a Buck Rogers Wilma Deering head for a Saavik in the jacketless uniform. Older Joe heads are good too, used one of them for my Kyle.

Megos have to be cracked open. You can boil and pop to get them out but putting one in is a real pain if you want to reuse the body. ERTLs and Joes are just unscrewed in the back. Some need the bottom of the head post trimmed to fit properly.
