    Fisher Price Adventure People

Who here liked the FP Adventure People toys back in the day? What sets did you have? I ahd the motorcycle team, the kayak, the Wilderness Trail Blazer set, The Sea Rescue set with the octopus, helicoptor and sub, Construction worker set, the mountain climbers, the scuba diver set, the indy car. the parachute guy, and some others. As a kid, I prefered the ones that had scuba diving as the theme for some reason. I guess it prompted me to take scuba lessons later on in life....

Love 'em, played with them alot. I'm finding that I'm having trouble remembering which sets I actually owned, because I played with a couple of kids who had them as well and I can't recall who owned which. But a few that I know for certain that I owned were-

TV crew (hey I didn't think it sucked, I actually had fun with it!)
        Wild Animal Safari
        North Woods trailblazer
        Daredevil sport van

I clearly remember playing with the rescue copter playset and the wilderness patrol, as well as the sea playset with the yellow sub, but I'm pretty sure those were my friend's. I know I had some of the small carded sets too like the construction worker set, etc.

As I've mentioned here before, this is a line of toys that I've been trying very hard to not get wrapped up in collecting because I have enough to collect already! But man, someday...

            So Underrated

I admit it, I loved these bad boys. They're just behind Megos and Star Wars as far as I'm concerned. Between my brothers and me, we had:

The Ranger set with the ATV, boat, and plane
The Daredevil set with the van, kayak, motorcycle, and parachute
            The ambulance set with helicopter
The speedboat set with the dolphin and water skis
The deep sea explorer with the boat and submarine
            The race car driver
            The parachute guy
            The motorcycle driver
            The kayaker "Chet"
            The Alpha Probe space shuttle
            The Safari set
            The moon landing
The set with the orange jeep and the tent
Plus a few more that I'm sure I'm forgetting

We've still probably got 90% of these kicking around my parents' house.

That ATV set was the cause of one of my strongest childhood memories of when I was five. I wanted to play with the motorboat in the water. So I figured I'd get a bucket out of the garage, fill it up, and go to town. I saw one on the shelf and reached to pull it down. What I didn't know is that my father had just changed the oil in the car and had put the old oil in that bucket. As the bucket came off the shelf, it tipped, pouring a couple quarts right over my head.

Not wanting to get in trouble, I raced inside and changed out of my clothes immediately so no one would know. I threw the oil-stained clothes right in the family hamper and went back out to play. As I came out of the bathroom, my mom screamed and asked what happened. I wondered how she could know. Of course, being five, I didn't think to wash my face and hair, which were still covered in oil.

A bunch of the clothes in the hamper were ruined. As was my backside later on that day.

Ha, cool memory, thanks for sharing. I have have vivid memories of playing with my yellow jeep, tent, canoe, alot. Also, as I mentioned, I loved the scuba diver figures with the orange and yellow tanks, that clipped on them. I remember after a rain, there was a spot in my yard along the fence line, that would fill up with water. The bottom was centipede grass, and when it was cut short, it held the fresh rain water, which was clear, and dirt free. I guess it was probably 5 feet long, so I had me a little lake or river to play in, Ha. I t was probably 3-4 inches deep. I played with my Adventure people alot there....

Great thread, I love these toys.

As a kid I only had the Wilderness Patrol (the only set available in the small french city where I lived in the 70's and I still don't understand how it reached the toyshop where I found it???) but I wished I had all of them...

Now I have these loose sets:
#304 - "The Adventure People and Their Wild Animal Safari".
#307 - "The Adventure People and Their Wilderness Patrol".
#310 - "The Adventure People and Their Sea Explorer".
#312 - "The Adventure People and their North Woods Trailblazer".

#351 - "The Adventure People Mountain Climbers".
#352 - "The Adventure People Construction Workers".

                and these carded figures:
                #371 - "Opticon". 1982-1984. Adventure Series.
                #382 - "Adventure Series "Pilot".
                #383 - "Paramedic".
                #385 - Motorcycle Driver.
                #388 - "Stunt Man".
                #390 - "Brainoid".
                #399 - Helicopter pilot (black).

It's never too late to get what you wanted

BTW I'm still looking for :
                a #334 - "Sea Shark" set
                Fisher Price Booklet
I have an extra yellow plane from Wilderness Patrol that I'd like to trade.

Of all the toylines of the 70s, this one was one my brothers and I never owned.

I got mine 3 years before RAH and it didn't fit in too well during the Star Wars years. I remember turning it into a Mary Tyler Moore playset as a kid (one character resembled Ed Asner) and then thinking "What am I doing?". The TV crew had a short life at my home. It's at my parents now in mint condition.

Yeah, you gotta admit, the tv crew was pretty lame, but hey, the camera was cool....You could look thru it.

I just had the Deep Sea diver, that attached to a line from the little buoy it came with. There was a treasure chest & a small octopus with it too. The octopus has made it into my kids' toy collection, and they use it to guard their Weeble Castle moat. BTW-has anyone noticed the new Imaginext sets made by FP? They kind of look like modern Adventure People sets to me, especially the one that comes w/the plane. Here's a link to some sets they offer:
