    Batman 66 Barbies are coming...

Cindy got an email from a Barbie dealer, the Doll Genie:

There will be a Vintage BATMAN Assortment in 2013 Item # Y0301 - sounds very interesting!

Inspired by the 1966 Batman television series
*this assortment will celebrate the most iconic characters
...... no images or details yet...... to be continued..... ~ ZAP*~ BAMM ~ POW~
No word on which characters will be included yet, but you have to figure Batgirl and Catwoman (at least one of three) will be included.

Bill Greening, who did all of the previous super hero Barbies, is also designing this line.

    Oh Dear God!!! NOT BARBIE!!!

Considering how they screwed up their last Batgirl figure with the fabric ears coming out of the cowl, I'm afraid to take a chance on this line.

I can guarantee that the Barbie in question won't be articulated, and probably have that Stepford Wife smile all over her face.

It'd be enough to frighten the Joker!

*Sigh* why couldn't they get into partnership with DocMego and produce GOOD figures???

    Why dear Lord, why???

At least with Doc on board, we'd have ended up with great bodies, boss costumes, and good likenesses.

Although, if, repeat IF! They make the Batgirl cycle, I'll buy THAT!

I think Barbie might just be the tip of the iceburg for Batman. Matty is doing 6 inch for sure and Hot Toys already showed the Batmobile. I bet Toyfair will be interesting.

I've said I'd get the Hot Toys '66 Batman and Robin and that's it. But I really have the feeling I'll feel a lot of pressure to get Batgirl if they make her, too.

Yeah! Let's gripe and complain about 1966 Batman merchandise, because we've had so much before...?!?

I don't collect Barbies, but I'd be very interested in this as Batman '66 fan, mostly just for the costumes. How much do superhero Barbies usually retail for? I looked online, and they seem pretty expensive for Barbies, but I'm not sure if that's just because they are rare, or what.

Mattel has made a few comic-related Barbies over the last 10 years or so, and the prices have ranged from around $15 to $50 or so, depending on the amount of detail, number produced, etc. They've had a few dolls aimed at the collector market, and a series of animated-inspired mainstream play line dolls as well. My guess is the Batman dolls would be aimed at collectors and be somewhere in the $25-$50 range, but we'll just have to wait and see.

How could you NOT want a Julie Newmar Catwoman Barbie? or an Eartha Kitt variant?

You know what would be beyond cool?

I'm hoping for another Batgirl along with her moped scooter, minus the barbie blond hair.

Any of those choices would be cool!

I dunno if I'll get this. I do have the Star Trek Barbie set, but I think I'm more looking forward to the 60's Batman 6 inch figures coming out. But we'll see.
