I cannot believe it but I actually found him! It's completely unbelievable! Just followed a few links, did a little networking and BAM! The one I had was yellow.

I'm trying to find out if it's for sale.

Very cool to find such an obscure figure. Good going!

More Sunman news - I just purchased him! He's shipping tomorrow! I can't believe I actually found this obscure gumball toy. I also did a little digging and discovered something quite interesting. "Sunman" was made by Imperial Toys and shares the same head sculpt (minus the appendages) as the Jack in the Box bendy toy based off the fast food chain of the same name! It appears he was a retool of this toy probably made to be sold cheap in gumball machines.

Those look like very different head sculpts to me. The distance between the eyes is much different, mouth size/shape is different, etc. Cool toys though. I've enjoyed following your quest.

No. He was a very fair price. Probably more of hassle for the guy to have to ship him out : ) And yes, he is missing an arm.

And the mystery surrounding the identity of Sunman has been solved. He is part of set of 6 rubber charms that sold for ten cents a piece in 1972.

                    Congrats on the Sunman ID.

I think the board game you mention in your first post is Torpedo Game. The blue tanks are actually ship's guns. One of my favourites as a kid!

And now my mission is complete! I have acquired a "yellow" Sunman! However, this new acquisition has opened the door to more questions - 2 different sizes for Sunman???
