Does anyone know if the De-greying procedure outlined in the 'Tips & Tricks' section of the museum would work on a faded Thing head?

I used the RIT dye (orange) technique and it worked fantastic. Just be careful to not go too strong on the dye mix and don't dip it too long or it could discolor the eyes and end up too dark. I used the same technique on my Human Torch figure and went too strong on the mix and too long on the dip and it came out too dark. Good luck and remember: Less is More! You can always go darker but you can't "undye" it.Last edited by lilbrosj66; Sep 30, '12, 2:10 PM.Comment

Oh, and after my mishap with the Torch head and the flames going orange from the red dye, I tried this this trick to keep the Things eyes white and tounge blue: I painted a very thin coat of vaseline over his eyes and tounge to stop the orange dye from getting to the paint. The result was great. Perfectly colored head and bright white eyes. I only wish I had thought about that before I did Torch's head. Lesson learned.Comment

You can get Rit dye at most arts and crafts places (Micheal's). I prefer the small boxes of powder. They are just easier to handle than the larger bottles, less packaging waste (gotta think of Mother Earth) and you can sprinkle just a little at a time into the hot water until you get the right strength. Good luck!Comment
