I'm pretty confident in my rerooting abilities. I'm almost finished something. I'll post it and see what you guys think.
Hey! Where's the waiter with the water for my daughter?

    Check out my customs!

Thanks to all of you for your info and input.

K, I'm going the rerooting since the paint scenario is too messy and cumbersome for my daughter since she will play with the doll. The next generation of Mego fans even if it's custom.

Del, can't wait to see your project and thanks for the help.

Darkknight, thanks for the info on supplies.

I'll post pics of my first attempts of custom work. Nothing major, just easy small time stuff. Got to start somewhere.

  6. Just did an ebay search for re-rooting on ebay and by chance found one of the seellers that ripped me off some years ago:

Custom Mego Wizard Of Oz Dorothy Doll ~Meow~by Victoria - eBay (item 290200016004 end time Jan-27-08 07:59:53 PST)

She took the money for the custom job, then didn't respond to my emails anymore nor send anything.
    Beware!

I think Brian Leitner reroots hair as well

I contacted Brian and he says he doesn't do it as a service.

    Mef,

That's awful that somebody runs a scam like that. Thanks for the heads up on that person.

    ealdrett,

I'm not surprised the Brian doesn't reroot anymore for people. It's pretty time consuming and difficult to put a price tag on if one wanted to do it for someone else. I'd offer to help you out myself, but I don't enough spare time now to do some things I should be doing. LOL!!! I think you'll do just fine rerooting on your own. Don't be afraid to mess up; any mistakes can always be undone and the plugs removed. I think you'll find that you'll pick it up quite easily.

Please let us know how things worked out.

This is a different approach, but how about making a wig?? I ran across this site awhile back but haven't had the motivation to tackle this. Although, in theory, it seems like this would be easier than re-rooting a whole head!
