Thread: Barbie Madness Estate Sale (anyone got tips?)

Barbie Madness Estate Sale (anyone got tips?)

Few hours I'm hitting an Estate Sale with a MASSIVE amount of Barbie stuff. I expect the turn out is going to be just as overwhelming.

So far I'm making a list of what to grab (or try to).

A lot seems to be late 70s to the 90s.

Anything I should look out for? I know 60s and early to mid 70s stuff is always good. Not that knowledgeable about the others.

Honestly, there doesn't appear to be anything too great other than the designer name clothes, but those will be priced high.

Are you an avid estae seller? Do you know how to work them? Grab anything and everything, don't stop to look at something. After the madness sudsides, than go through what you have and decide if you want to keep or not.

What about the 70s Ken dolls? Like Live Action and that Brad doll. I'm going to try to snatch those.

Worst thing about these, they know what they have, so you are not going to get them for a bargain. I bet you $10 they are priced right out of the price guide or eBay. The only Barbies worth anything solid are pre-1970 (IMO). Some of the 70's stuff maybe of some value, nothing like the old stuff.

I see some of the early 70s (Mod era) like the Live Action Ken fetch over $100.

The company running this sale are usually pretty reasonable with prices and understand most there are resellers and not collectors. We'll see how it turns out. If they are too high, I'll split and hit some others.

Now that's a lot of Barbie stuff...I don't know much about them, but I see some things in there that I would think would be a good pick up. Good luck with the sale, I hope you get some great items!

Depends, the old stuff is always worth money..any Pink box barbie pre-85 is still worth it if it's cheap...The Barbie and the Rockers are always a good seller as well...the newer stuff like Bob mackies are nice but have gone down big time...But still sell between $50-$100 so it all depends on prices

Got there bright and early. Only ONE other person there!?!?! Seemed fishy. Then the girl came up to me and asked me if I wanted a number. "sure". Then she asked me if I was a toy person there for the Barbie stuff and I said yes and she asked me....if I was there a FEW WEEKS AGO!?!?! She was a doll dealer and was after the same stuff I was.

Apparently, they had this sale already and neglected to update the images. This was just a "follow up" The only people there were me and like 3 women. Have to say I kind of felt strange being in a room with nothing but Barbie and picking through it all with women and a little girl. I must look really strange doing that in Death Metal shirts and demon tattoos on my arm.

    NO VINTAGE. NOTHING.

The only thing I bought were Oscar de la Renta outfits for $5 a pop. I bought $50 worth. I should make like $180 on them.

I didn't look for those. Most of it was the crappy 80s stuff. They had some big numbers on some, but were telling people to just ignore them since they wanted to move it all out.

You'd think with that amount of stuff, it wouldn't all be researched, but no. They researched each and every single piece.
