Was watching an episode of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea last night and it occured to me how cool the background music was ....
It seems TV shows of today lost that with the exception of Doctor Who (the new series)

A good soundtrack can make or break a movie or TV show.
I remember Spielberg saying: "Jaws only worked after John Wiliams scored it."
Some TV shows still have great music, though. I guess we don't always notice that. I'm a big fan of TV soundtracks, old and new. A couple of months ago, I bought a promotional 4CD set of the original BSG. Over four hours of music, and some really great pieces on it. Stu Phillips really make a fantastic score for that series.
Remember the music to Star Trek TOS? Man, once I'd heard a couple of notes, I could already make out what was going to happen in the next scene. A fight, romance, a space threat. Great stuff.

"Everything has an end.
Except sausages, which have two..."
I cannot think of any modern show that has incidental music that I can remember or pick out in my head. It does seem to stop in the 70s for me.
Mego...Re-Mego...It's all good!
^^ Breaking Bad. Dave Porter does an amazing job. I also think of Dexter, Episodes, etc. There's several others, but I can't remember their names now.
For animated shows: Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Green Lantern: TAS, Wolverine and the X-Men, etc.
