The most important documentary you will ever watch.

If you have not seen Mermaids: The Body Discovered, on Discovery Channel, you MUST watch it.

In 2005, The U.S. Navy was conducting sonar weapon experiments that resulted in mass deaths of whales and dolphins by beaching. In Washington state, two boys discovered a still living humanoid aquatic mammal. The Navy threatened them and their mother until they changed their statements about what they saw. A U.S. Navy spokesperson who would not identify himself said they kept the creature alive in captivity until 2007. He said what they did was wrong and he regretted taking part in it.

Another independent group of scientists in South Africa made the same discovery, except of a dead creature. They also determined it to be a humanoid aquatic mammal. Their research, including the body, all DNA samples, recordings, computers, etc was seized by the South African goverment in cooperation with the U.S. Navy. The scientists continued to research but were followed and ordered to stop by the U.S. Navy and had their visas revoked.

The evidence that did survive and made it to the documentary will change your life. I'm still in shock. There were two different film clips that clearly show a humanlike creature with arms webbed hands, one from the Navy and one from a Portugese fishing boat that accidentally caught one of these things in their nets. The skull as reconstructed by a forensic marine biologist matches exactly with a 16th century Italian anatomical drawing of the same skull. It is nearly human with a larger eye sockets and an indentation with numerous chambers in the forehead for echolocation, just like dolphins and whales.

Also, for several years, scientists have been aware of an unidentified creature living in the ocean that uses echolocation that is neither a whale nor dolphin. The guy from the U.S. Navy confirmed the sounds are those made by the creature they caught.

You HAVE to watch this documentary. It will blow your freaking mind.
Just like the now confirmed giant squid, men who have reported seeing "mermaids" for centuries across every culture on earth were apparently seeing something after all.
It's understandable why the government would want to try and keep this from getting out. The implications about human evolution are staggering, and if we have relatives living in the ocean, how would this affect religion, etc.

I hate to tell you, but it was all a fake....the only truth was the unidentified "ping" the Navy discovered. The rest of the story is a work of fiction. I had the same reaction as you when I first saw it....do an internet search about it, there's alot of people pretty ticked off....

there was thread about this either in the sci-fi or general forum a while back. The only truths were the dolphins helping the men fish at the end and the "bloop" sound they originally spoke of (I posted the link where you can actually here that)

but in all honesty I thought it was very entertaining and I did like some of the ideas of a "what if" sea ape theory.
