An all new Hellboy in the works.

    Hi folks.
After seeing my son do his neat kitbash Hellboy at Mego Meet 2012, it got me really interested in making one myself.

I cannot sculpt likenesses - I have tried, but the end product is decent, but not what I see in my head...
I browsed ebay for Hellboy figures that could be Mego-scale....I thought I could maybe cast a head and make it fit a mego body.

Well, the problem with that is, there are some really good hellboy heads out there, really good..."too" good actually.

So, back to the drawing board in my head.

    One day something clicked.
I was checking out the Mattel Darkseid figure hanging on my son's wall.
I instantly envisioned a cigar in the leftside of his mouth...but Darkseid has that big 'ole helmet thing going on...but the face, the face has possibilities...

Hellboy has spock-like ears...my first thought was to cast both heads, sand down Darkseid and attach ears.

A few days went by, and after browsing figures hanging on his wall, I noticed Black Adam was exactly what I was looking to achieve.

So, off the cards they came, and both heads got cast.

See the progress and Frankenstein method in my thread here:

Picking up where that thread left off - here is the finished Hellboy head :

I was on the fence about using a standard-sized 8" mego body and just "buff it up" as Mattel did with Darkseid - but I might want his chest exposed, so that method will not work for me.

So, we picked up some of Doc's new Hulk bodies - yup, scale is dead-on.

As I went with Calibos for Mego Meet 2012, I plan to build Hellboy from scratch.

    Clothing
    Belt with knick-knacks

Doing clothing like this will be a first for me, but I think I'll be fine - just gonna take time.

That is just a great effort. Most impressive is the vision...seeing the finished product while looking at an entirely different finished product. A+++

You could do a bisection mod to the waist and shoulders of a hulk torso so it fit a standard T2 pelvis and arms too, which is what I did for my first in 2000 - HB has a lot of width on the trunk, but his left arm really isn't that beefy, though that may not be the look you're after.
This is what it looks like mixed in with T2 and an old grainy pic of the proto from my NYC days:

                          small update -

Knew I couldn't find boots to fit the new hulk body feet - I made some.
Another frankenstein-ing process to achieve the look.

Heat up the doc body to remove the foot. Amazing how soft the plastic gets, then hardens right back up.

I bought a pair of CTVT boots for a 12" figure. I simply loved the texture, soles, and laces on the boots.

I used an exacto knife to cut the boot apart along certain seams.
I used a dremil to grind down the hulk foot.
Hot glue to piece it together.
Clay to fill in some hard spots.
My exacto knife has a textured knob - which i used to roll a pattern into the clay so it looked like material.

For this figure, once I get the pants done, I doubt you'll even see the boot laces, but the boots can be used now for other characters.
