Does this mean Hugh Jackman's Wolverine will be involved? I'm confused.

Based on "First Class," Vaughn and Singer could probably make a good adaption of the story without Wolverine, but it would be a shame to adapt the storyline without him.
Would love to see Ellen Page return as Kitty.
The First Class X-Men could go into the future, beyond the timeline of the first 3 X-flicks, and meet an older Wolverine and some of the others.

Pretty geektacular either way.
Vaughn has not disappointed me with any of his films thus far. Including a great X-men film filled with d-list characters that defied everyone's expectations. Wolverine or no, I'm on board. I would imagine we'd at least get a hugh Jackman cameo once again. This time set in the future depicting the iconic moment where a sentinel blasts him.
I would love for them to start incorporating some of the fun newer characters currently running around Wolverine and The X-Men.
I'm so happy they're choosing to use this story line! And there's no reason Wolvie can't be in this movie...both Magneto & Xavier admit to knowing him in X2. Plus, this being set in the past...it's before Wolvie got his mind wiped, which would explain why he doesn't remember either of them in the future.

^My comment about Wolverine didn't have to do with film continuity. It was has more to do with whether Jackman is willing to be in the film, if Fox is willing to pay him what it would take or recast the part for the movie.
Jackman genuinely seems protective of the role so it may not be an issue. But to me, the coolest part of the storyline is Wolverine getting blasted by the Sentinel. Even if that scene was just a cameo I'd be happy.
I checked out of X-men comics about the time Marvel booted Claremont in the 1990s and have only read the books here and there since. Has more been done with the storyline than the initial two-part story by Claremont and Byrne?
Good article relating to the movie:
