The event where the fans are separated from the true fans.
Always trying to spread the word on the Big Red Cheese!!
Great article!
So, two of the five "greatest battles" have Cap playing the villain and 3 of them feature Superman.
really.
I do like your #5 pick. That's a great book. Beautifully illustrated.
Monster Society of Evil has to be mentioned (the GA story. Not the Jeff Smith story)
Captain Marvel Adventures 78, Captain Marvel meets Mr. Atom.
Captain Marvel Adventures 84, Captain Marvel meets the Surrealist Imp
Captain Marvel Adventures 132, Captain Marvel Battles Flood

Yes because despite what you think, those fights defined Captain Marvel into the DC mythos more so than any other fight. AND Supes vs Marvel is the greatest rivalry ever in comics and this should not come to anyone's surprise.
I see where your coming from.
I don't like much of what DC has done with the character. There are a few exceptions. The World's Finest run is very good. Your #5 is a fun read. Alex Ross' treasury sized book is beautiful. Power of Shazam has it's moments. However, I have to tell you that I hate the "Super-Billy" take. And, I like Cap's cameo in Morrison's JLA. Usually, DC uses Cap as a weak minded tool to throw at Superman.
