Heart Who's your favorite comicbook artist?

Mine? Curt Swan will always be the man to me. As a kid, when I doodled a lot, I also tried to emulate his work.

Yes, everyone he drew looked the same, but when I think of Superman, it's always a Curt Swan picture that comes to mind.

Who is YOUR favorite comicbook artist of all time?

Curt Swan is awesome. Over the years, I think ive come to appreciate him more and more. True draftmanship and he could tell a great story with pictures. He style changed with the times to and he managed to keep himself from becoming stagnant.

Its hard to pick just one. Gil Kane, Jack Kirby, John Buscema, Jack Davis, Neil Adams......

I might have to say John Byrne just because he was the artist that I actually read on a regular basis thru the years. From FF to superman to NextMen to superman again i usually picked up what he did no matter the book. Thru all the trends thru the years he remained consistent.

The truely great comic artist ive learned to appreciate as time has gone on with better access to their material.

Honarable mention goes to Sergio Aragones. Ive always enjoyed his doodles and was a fan of Groo

I like so many of the guys that drew Superman--Adams, Ordway, Frank--but I'm with you that Swan drew what was kind of the ideal Superman.

If I had to pic an all-time favorite comic artist? I could easily list a Top 10, but you want one. I have to go with John Buscema.

Kirby or GIl Kane, flip a coin.
Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday.

They tough part about naming one artist is that for certain characters I have a specific artists whom I like better than others. For example, Curt Swan is my favorite Superman artist, but his style just did not suit the bronze-age Batman (my favorite version) to me. So while he is the definitive and my favorite artist for my favorite character, I don't think his style was as versatile or fit every feature.

Overall, I'm not a big fan of Ditko's style, but he's my favorite Spider-Man artist.

So I guess, overall it's probably George Perez, but I also love Adams, Byrne, Kane, Aparo, Lopez, Kirby, and a dozen(s) others.

Would love for DC to get Perez to do a 12-issue run on a Justice League book with the Satellite lineup. I know he did a number of issues following the passing of Dick Dillin, but his run was fractured with Don Heck doing issues between his.

^ I'd have to say George Perez also...no matter what he draws he always knocks it outta the park. The detail in his panels is amazing...Nobody does "cosmic, big team super heroics" like he does and make it seem effortless.

I have to say Jack Kirby. Almost all the other artists I dig, Mignola, Timm, etc... all seem to spring from that style.
