Alter Ego questions

I apologize if this has been asked/answered before, but here goes:

What was the intention of the Alter Egos? Since Doc Mego was a bit young to be at service, were kids supposed to switch out the heads and costumes on their least favorite Megos to permanently turn them into Alter Egos, or were they supposed to switch heads/costumes back and forth on Superman, Batman, Robin and Spiderman? If the latter were the case, wouldn't Peter Parker have red hands? Also, is there a difference between Superman, RC Batman and RM Robin's heads and their Alter Ego heads?

It is kind of odd that mego decided to just sell the heads and costumes at montgomery wards!! I don't think they were expected to be very popular since kids wanted there super heroes in there costumes!! There is a great deal of information on here about them. The heads are different (in some cases somewhat slight)

Now that you mention it,it really didn't make sense to sell extra heads,did it? If you already had a RC Batman or RM Robin or a Superman,all you had to do was throw on the outfits.

Lol. I can just imagine a kid switching AE heads on to a Myx or Penguin body and declaring, this don't look right.
