ROM Space Knight--who owns the rights?

I know Marvel doesn't as they still have characters that are Space Knights but not like Rom was. They still use the Dire Wraiths, his bad guys, a little bit. I think that was a Marvel creation as they were just used in issues of Avengers Academy. Wiki says Parker Brothers retained the rights after Marvel series was over.

Ah Hasbro--they should update some ROM figs for the digital age.

So a ReMEgo is probably out--but I guess if I can envision Clue Megoes, I can do ROM, too.

Doesn't Marvel own the right s to the character, but not the robot lookin' design? I know a few years back they brought him and Brandy back, but as humans.

They own the character Artour, based on King Arthur, who was Rom's human host. They can't use the exact armor. Sort of the same situation as Bug from Micronauts. They're still using him and he may be a part of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie as he's been in that book lately I believe.

I'm guessing Hasbro owns the name and the robotic design, Marvel can't use that, but they did create everything else and I suppose can use that as long as they don't reference ROM himself.

This is strange because ROM the toy has some noticeable design differences from ROM The Comic Book Character. The head is different and if you use the Michael Golden art there's a lot more changes. I'd love to see a Golden version.
