    A&E's Barter Kings

The show is cool to watch, it features two affable guys (the guy on the left has tourette's syndrome)...and the bartering is fun to watch.

    Having said that...I think it's all fake...lol.

The premise is that they start with something small, let's say a pair of 50s roller skates...and they keep trading up items bit by bit with different people...then by the end of the show...they wind up with a 70s muscle car or something expensive like that...lol.

Craigslist seems to be the main starting point in this show.

I check the Craigslist Barter section everyday...to see if I can do the same thing...and man...most people in there wants to trade up...lol.

So how can this be possible when most everyone are super greedy?

Out of pure curiosity...I posted my Galaga arcade machine for trade (excellent condition and worth anywhere from $750 to a grand)...I was getting emails from people who would trade me their $100 bicycles or crappy used up rusted to hell cheapo gym equipment (one almost new Bowflex machine though)...stuff like that...what a load of crapola...lol. However, I did get an offer of a new in the box backyard Greenhouse (I researched, and it was worth $600)...but I really didn't want to trade my arcade machine...the posting was just an experiment. Although I'm kinda looking into getting a Greenhouse eventually, but not for my Galaga. I counter-offered the Greenhouse offer for my archery compound bow with arrows set (worth about $200-$300)...but I never heard from him again...so my first attempt at trading up blew up in my face...lol.

If I post my Mustang as a bartered item...I bet you I'll get dudes offering me their rusted four door station wagons with salvaged titles as trade...lol.

But yet in the show...the Barter King dudes trade their little girls' bike for a one thousand dollar arcade machine (he actually wanted TWO arcade machines for his bike, lol)...yeah right...lol...

I know it's possible...some teenager was recently in the news that he traded up from a laptop to a sports car...but it took him a year of careful bartering and planning. These Barter Kings seem to have the same magic and results in a mere week or so, lol.

    Still kinda fun to watch...

It's not a bad idea, just like you said, a little unbelievable. Have you seen Picked Off yet? Not a bad show the other night.

    Let's barter...

I have a very nice conditioned (well taken care of) Ben Pearson Critter Getter compound bow (60 pounds)...it's an early 90s model...shoots really nice...it has installed silencers, a sight, and an Easton X7 stabilizer aluminum bar.

Comes with leather quiver, leather carrying case...and a cool homemade wooden case to store arrows and other accessories (the wooden case is a bit long a heavy though and its latches are rusted, that could cost a bit to ship though). It also includes leather finger-tipped glove and leather arm guard. As well as an archery release. The bow is designed for a right-handed person.

Ten aluminum 29 inch target arrows as well...however...you might wanna get a new set of vanes though...I noticed just about all of them (except one) have torn or worn down vanes/fletchings. But you can buy a fletching repair jig kit on eBay for around $40. You can also get a brand new set of arrows about a dozen arrows for that price as well...the arrows from China are by far the cheapest priced...

Cheapest one on eBay...I do recommend you getting one...so you can repair your own arrows, because you will be breaking a LOT of vanes off the arrows, believe me, lol.

Here's a good kit with vanes as well...

    How to fletch arrows...

And if you are really lazy...you can get a set of Quickfletches...

EASY to install video of a Quickfletch...

I should get paid for just providing you with all this information, lol.

I was heavily into archery...but now with my bad legs and balance, I really can't practice archery effectively anymore.

Yep...typical Craiglist ripoff artist...that's why Barter Kings is all staged...the vast majority of barter people are greedy arseholes...lol.

It's a fun watch but like you said, most of the items I have ever attempted to trade for always seem to be the other way around. They always want to receive something for way more than what they paid. I did enjoy watching picked off. Good concept

I can"t say this is for sure of every episode because I have only seen 2 but it looks like every one they deal with has a specific need for what they have, so the upgrade is worth it for them to move down and not get more. One guy needed the welder, he wound up losing I think $200 or $300 on the trade, but he needed it for work down the line so it was worth the trade loss to him to make more money in the future. So naturally I am not going to trade a Removeable mask Solid box Robin for an Action Jackson unless I had an extra and the Action Jackson was the only piece I needed to complete an entire set of every Mego variation ever made.

Good point. Since these guys have loads of stuff to barter; they could be working different barter deals over months and months of time, but is all nice and neat in one episode.
