I'm all for anything other then the Super 8...

I had the Marriott SpringHill Suites booked as an alternate this year:

Enjoy your home away from home at SpringHill Suites. Located near Wheeling Island Casino, our hotel offers long-term stay options for guests.

...but since I had several folks in tow with us that were also staying at the 8, we decided to stay.

It's 3.5 miles (7 mins) away from the Museum and also offers breakfast, a pool, and an exercise room.

We will most likely stay here next year because I'm a Marriott Rewards Member (unless the Hampton Inn is cheaper)...but it's not that far away from the Hampton Inn (less then 1/2 mile).
Everyone is Entitled to MY Opinion...Your's, not so much!

I'll echo what others have said about it being once year. Also, with the Super 8 on the downswing, Hoss's and Undo's out the picture the experience in the immediate area will probably never be the same as it was before. So it's probably time to move down the road and start some new traditions. The fact that there's several dining options also make it attractive.

I have no preference. I can always go to the 8 if I want a cheap room.

I'm good with whatever but agree on all accounts. I went to use the treadmill this year and they had a bunch of mattresses stacked in there. When a Patel takes control, the quality goes down, i deal with this in my job. Oh well, their loss.

I agree on all accounts. The price has been increasing and what they can offer has been decreasing. It's definitely not family friendly. I never had an issue with the 8. The first years I had a decent room and the room adjacent to the Suite was always nice. I always booked a room with Johnny prior to taking the mini suite. I spend about 2 hours total in the room awake for the whole 3-4 days. If I'm not sleeping, I'm either not there or I'm getting ready to leave to go to another room or the Museum. I'm good with wherever we go. Not like that's gonna stop me from attending. Two years in a row I haven't even gotten the room on Sat night because of my early Sunday flight. I leave for the airport at 4am. Whatever works is fine with me.

The price increase isn't ideal for me as that's an extra $180 I have to find. I've never had an issue with the 8 (although this year I didn't get a frig in my rooom - turns out only some rooms have them). But I'm up for the swith considering what we get in return.

I guess the beauty of it is, you can still stay at the Super 8. I mean, nothing is stopping you from hanging at the Megosuite all night and crashing at a different hotel.

True. But if the boys come next year I hate to be driving back and forth between hotels. I know they would enjoy the pool and better breakfast. It just means a little more planning is all.

The amenities will offset the cost. You have to figure if you are 3 or 4 people just the cost of breakfast per day is $8 to $10 a person... and your getting pool and gym rights, and I think I saw a washer dryer on premisis as well. This year the Super 8 cost me $79.00 a day before taxes; up about $9-$11 from last year so figure a jump to $89 a night next year, throw in breakfast for 4 that's another $35 a day... now your at $120 before taxes with a lesser room and still no pool. I say see how low you can get them being it has been 8 years and counting for most of you, knowing they will be getting buiseness for another 4, 6, 8 years beyond maybe they will go lower on a special rate.

Just wanted to say that kudos to all of you who make Mego Meet possible. Sounds like fun and will make an effort this year to attend.

Can't beat a review like this

"This hotel is the definition of a excellent hotel. It has beautiful grounds, super friendly staff, a wonderful pool and fitness center. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. We stayed there for three days and met the owner, Bob, on the first day. He offered to make us to steaks on the grill, and every morning he saw us he asked if there was anything we needed or that he could do for us. He was interactive in the hotel's business. He would clean up the garden and plant flowers, and made sure his hotel was extremely up to par and clean."

I had all intentions of hitting the meet this year. Then one of my closest friends decided to get married and asked me to be his best man. With that said, i am telling everyone the entire month of June is booked. I really need to attend and put faces with all your names.
A few things i do know about hampton inn. This one is not advertised but they offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you tell them at checkout for whatever real reason you had an unpleasant stay, they will refund you. Also i do believe they don't accept pets but it might also be an individual motel policy. Also the breakfast is awesome. For me that is a big plus. They have stuff you can make right there and a place to sit and eat,or you can bring it back to your room. And plenty of stuff for the kids. Also most offer either a complimentary USA today or a local paper, free of charge. I know this is big for several of you but Hampton is also very family friendly. I think they are very much worth the few extra bucks. And like people have said, you can still stay at another hotel if you want. I look forward to meet 2013 and maybe if i plan enough now, i will actually be able to attend.
