Sure there are times I wanna go on a rampage here....but I just sit in my yoga position and say Goosfraba.....goosfraba. Then I punt a kitten. No reason to vent my nerd rage in words and ruin the good mood here.![]()

I think it's just cool we're living in a sort of Golden Age for nerds. F.ex., when something like the last Conan w/ Jason Momoa or John Carter came out, a lot of people panned them, and it just strikes me we're being spoiled by an overabundance of riches, so to speak. Same goes for toys. There are a lot of characters I'd prefer to see made into figures than this guy or that guy, but we've gotten a realistic-looking 1/6 Chris Reeve Superman as well a great Buster Crabbe Flash Gordon! 1/9 scale SMDM and BSG are on the way! I've only seen a couple episodes of Dr. Who, but I'm happy for those fans, because their childhood prayers are being answered. And if companies are making stuff I'm not interested in, that's great too--it gives me a chance to save up for bigger items or spend the money on stuff I've missed out on in the past.

I think it's a HUGE testament to the creators/moderators of this site.
I agree with the original post 100%
I have always found this site to be the "Mayberry" of the geek world. Nice folks to chat about a subject with.
I recently got back into Dungeons and Dragons for my kids and so, started frequenting the boards over at that site. Those people are always looking for a fight. Every little nit that someone posts is picked to death until there is no meat left upon the carcass. Much different vibe here... thanks everyone!
When I .... how do you say (?) .... think of my mindframe on this spaceplane, I'm Skywalker with my X-Wing like I was when I was a kid.
I think it has more to do with the continual degradation and appropriation of nerd culture than age groups. Being a nerd doesn't mean as much as it used to when the types of bullies that tormented nerds are now collecting toys and playing video games. The average age of gamers is in the mid 30s but you wouldn't think that if you'd lurk a video game site for any length of time or play on xbox live. Just mind numbing levels of homophobia and sexism. Lurking comic book or toy collecting sites will yield similar results.
The Museum is a relative oasis in all the crap that has become of nerd culture.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
