I belong to several toy message boards, but don't post nearly as often as I used to on a few of them, because so many of the members are nothing but ungrateful, thankless little whiners who **** and moan about everything that comes out, every preview, you name it. As soon as there's a new reveal, there's 10 pages of people complaining about it. "Why this character",
or "I don't like the colors on his accessories", or "This sucks, when are we getting so and so" an on and on and on... They also frequently comment how this or that character should never have been made, forgetting that just because they don't like something doesn't mean nobody else does. I mean how much more selfish can you get than to say, a company should only make the characters I like...the hell with everybody else.
I can't quite figure it out, but the only common denominator I can see is age. Now, I'm about ten-twenty years older than most of the posters there, and I've noticed the difference here at the Mego Museum, where the posters are all about my age, and the tone is completely different. There's the occasional complaint here and there, but overall it's extremely positive. It seems the children of the 60's-70's are much more grateful for the new stuff vs. the children of the 80's-90's. I've argued with so many of them who are completely unable to grasp the fact that every toyline is not going to cater to their exact personal preferences, and that just because something isn't doesn't mean it "sucks" or is "lame", or my favorite..."epic fail"
It's amazing what a difference a generation makes.
