    Star Trek TOS uniform question

I'm working on a Star Trek TOS shirt (the classic red shirt), and I was studying the rank insignia on the sleeves. First of all, my language skills fail me here: what do you call the gold lines on their sleeves? Uniform piping?
I'm trying to find a supplier, which is hard when you can't find the right word!
I found a decent pic on Wikipedia:

Any suggestions on the belt for the phaser?
I think they mostly went with black velcro stuck on their pants, which seems kind of lame, but the initial gold belts seem a bit too groovy...

They're called rank stripes, GC--even with modern Navy.

Well, for getting the gold stuff I think you need to look for what's called "gold braid." "Piping" describes the style of the classic movie uniforms. You need to try some online Star Trek stores like Intergalactic Trading Co. They probably carry custom uniform supplies like patches and gold braid, etc.

    Thanks for the pointers!
All of a sudden, the word "Star Trek braid" opens up a whole new universe, and I get just what I need!
