^Yeah, those are my thoughts, and concerns on the movie as well. He fumbled a lot in the early stages of his hunting days in the book, and never showed any super human strength. The scene where he shatters the tree is way over the top, as is the aerial ballet.

Those Asylum movies are called "Mockbusters" and they're all just dumpster worthy...

To me, this movie is getting the same reaction another film got a few years ago... Snakes on a plane. It's just an odd title. And lots of people talked about it. But no one went to see it or liked it after they saw it. I think you can likely place this with that film. I just can't take the concept seriously. What's next? Ben Franklin meets Frankenstein?
It's not how hard you hit, but how hard you can be hit and still move forward.

  5. Heh, it turns out this is a series. Check out the video for Pride and Prejudice and Seamonsters near the bottom of the link.

    Ben Franklin meets Frankenstein?
    Good call on that title.

The only difference is that this was a book...a well written book at that (I think even on the N.Y. Times Best Seller list for a while). It will already have a built in audience from book readers who are interested and if they try to at least keep it as close to the book as possible; it should do well at the box office. A lot of 150 year Civil War Anniversaries this year plus a blockbuster Lincoln movie being released in 2013? by Spielberg.

I should also add that Lincoln really was kind of a bad arse president. He was probably one of the most mentally and physically strong presidents of the U.S. Not a lot of people know that. He looks skinny when he was president which was probably a result of stressing out over the Civil War and barely sleeping, but look at pictures of him when he was young. He was about as tough as they come.

Lincoln was a wrestler in his youth, and entered more than a few competitions.

I like the idea of Franklinstein. The monster could fight in the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812, be the only survivor of the Alamo, fight in no-man's land in WWI and land at Normandy in WWII.
