I know what you are saying but for me the real value of HBO/Cinemax is to pick up HD versions of old movies on the DVR that have not made it to blu ray.

I still have my plain old DVR receiver from 1998? with only twenty hours of recording time, only one channel at a time and no HD. They only way Dish will upgrade us is if we to move up to a more expensive programming package.

    That stinks.

In HD, space is pretty limited on my DVR too but you are able to hook in an expansion drive to increase space which is what I have done.

But when I was recording SD, it was much more roomier without any help.

Tonight the HBO channels are showing The Gong Show Movie from 1980 and Howard the Duck. Don't think I'll miss HBO once the preview is over.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

i was excited when they first showed The Gong Show movie since it is one of those lost films not on video and also it is legendarily bad. It is bad but at least you get to see J.P. Morgen topless.

I gotta agree with the folks about their original programming, but it does make it frustrating trying to justify that cable bill when there's no new season on of whatever you're currently into.

    HBO is something like:

    Uncle Buck
    Turner and Hooch
    Flashdance
    Tio Buck
    THE WIRE
    Uncle Buck
    The Notebook
    Resident Evil: Whatever
    Avatar
    BOARDWALK EMPIRE

It's worth it for Uncle Buck, The Wire, Boardwalk Empire and Uncle Buck.
