    HBO is really crappy

My cable company is giving me free HBO for the weekend.

The only thing that looks interesting is Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Everything else is mostly 80's and 90's movies like Grease, Back to the Future and Boogie Nights etc.

Why would anyone pay for HBO nowadays ?

    I love HBO.

    HBO Championship Boxing
    True Blood
    Real Sports with Bryant Gumble
    Real Time with Bill Maher
    Curb your Enthusiasm
    Boardwalk Empire
    Game of Thrones
    Ricky Gervais Show

Plus unedited old shows like The Sopranos, The Wire, Entourage...and lots of HBO OnDemand programming.

I also have Showtime, Cinemax, Encore, Starz, and The Movie Channel.

    Why?

Because I despise ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX...except for their weekend sports programming, lol.

I don't have cable and haven't for about 5 years. I cancelled it out of disgust regarding the programming and price. I've never looked back and I don't miss a thing.

My issue with HBO and the other movie channels is the massive repitition of movies. We had it up until last month and finally got tired of paying for programming we rarely watched.

HBO/Cinemax is good for me to pick up High Def versions of some older movies on the DVR that haven't made it to blu ray. But if I didn't have high def it wouldn't be worth much and still may drop one or the other to save a little money since a movie on HBO usually winds up on Cinemax.

I wanted to DVR a couple movies on HBO but my DVR box wont let me.

It says it can't DVR premium channels -- what a ripoff

It would probably let you if you were a subscriber but yeah that blows.

    what movies?

If I couldn't DVR HBO/Cinemax I'd get rid of those channels tomorrow.

We've gone back and forth on HBO over the last four or so years. Always seem to pick it up around summer so the wife can watch True Blood, but for the most part we don't utilize it very much. Right now we're watching mostly HBO series like Girls and Veep. And in the past we watched Curb Your Enthusiasm and Extras (had to catch up on both with OnDemand). Just recorded Black Swan which I've been wanting to see (Natalie Portman AND Mila Kunis, yes please!).
WH--? Where in blazes are we, Wall Crawler?
