This is possibly the seed of a different topic, why there seem to be so few NEW vintage collectors. (New collector, not new toys)

I don't think they are quite as expensive as they used to be. I agree with megoscott.

What sparked me to start this thread was the recycling of anarocker's nice packaged vintage WGSH in Marketplace. I can't believe such nice, fairly priced (lower than in past years!) figures can't sell here.

Although I have vintage Megos, there really isn't a whole lot I still want, and I'm pretty happy w/ the collection I have. But as I've said in the past, to my way of thinking, retros and customs are Megos as well. They may not be vintage, they may not hold the same memories for the same people, but they are a way for us to connect w/ today's generation, and for some, a good excuse to play w/ toys that won't break our hearts (and the bank) if they break.

As for the rest, like General Buzz, Sci-Fi, Comics and Monsters, I think it's all good, b/c man (and woman) does not live by Mego alone. This is our safe place to geek out, share, vent, praise, and ponder. I love MM, and all that it stands for.

I am by no means being critical of the evolution of Mego Museum, the community, or retros, customs, etc. To each his own. For those collectors who appreciate customs or new product as well as vintage, this is a great era for you at Mego Museum.

I only buy Vintage items. I don't deal in repro, customs or newer items at all. I've bought some very nice MINT vintage items from members here including a Harbert Robin MOC(thanks dumbldor ), MIB CS Spidey, MIB RC Batman, etc.

A huge problem now is individuals want things for dirt cheap instead of paying a bit more for quality items.

yea there are still good deals to be had here, but man some ebay prices are crazy! even on loose stuff

I don't know maybe the rest of the old collectors either have everything they want and can afford or they just can't find what they need

So vintage collectors fall into two categories now?

    1. Have just about everything they want or can afford
    2. Are scavengers looking for "dirt cheap" deals, possibly to flip

Are we so cynical? Is this true?

Regarding inflated evilbay prices, I think the "Buy It Now" and "Best Offer" options are the reason.

I also think that discussions based on a handful of people selling and trading the same high end MIB examples back and forth can only go on so long. Conversations had to evolve to include other aspects of Mego collecting and Mego toys. Like loose figures, customizing and retro. I don't think the museum would now be so active and vital if the main focus had stayed on high end MIB collecting.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

well I can't speak for everyone, I'm just throwing out a couple guesses of what it could be
