Why Won't Marvel / Hasbro Do Remegos???!!!

The Avengers are all over everything!!!
They even have The Avengers Lego Minifigs now!
Why won't they do an 8" Mego style line???
They did the 9 inch which sucked because they are too big.
Why not jump in now and do 8 inch?
Mego collectors would buy them out!

Doc Mego, if you are reading this, have you heard anything?

The quick failure of Mattel's line is one reason. Evidently the line was DOA with the second wave in TRU. We're lucky there were so many figures in the pipeline so early.

I believe if The Mattel line of DC figures were done with better detail maybe the line would have lasted longer. I don't want to see a silly looking iron man or Thor that is 8" tall with over size boots and crappy bodies and bad head sculpts and call them remego. Our taste has changed and we want better stuff. I don't want to see any more remakes like Hasbro Did with their Timeless Joe collect. I want better bodies and better uniforms. I'm happy with the new captain action they updated the figure and Uniform.

Hoping there is a return of the Timeless Collection in some form for the 50th anniversary of Joe in 2014.
Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday.

    Hmmmm....

I wonder if they consider it old hat, given the Famous Covers figures they did in the 90's.

The simple truth is that megos cost more to make so the company's
profit margin is smaller than with other figures.

If they could charge $40 a figure, there would be more interest.

It's about the money. If they thought megos would sell 100,000
units of each character, it would be in stores now.

As for Hasbro, they have repeatedly turn down inquiries to parcel
out Star Wars and Marvel because they don't think there is enough
customers who will pay the higher price.

People (not me) probably would pay $40 for megolike SW but they'd come here to complain about it daily. I'd probably have to charge a "Complaining tax" like a community "Swear Jar" of sorts.

If i had done this for $20 retro action, our bandwidth would have been paid until my kids were in college.

How much were Famous Covers? $15 USD?

I understand inflation, cost of materials, etc...but was it only profitable for Toy Biz because the Marvel license was laundered under ownership?

Otherwise, are we're not talking about the cost of production to make a Mego, but the cheapness of other toy lines and the ability to mark those up?

The problem with Famous Covers was they just didnt sell well.

I saw unsold ones at KB Toys for years.

But they kept putting them out, for years. When TRU had the first runs, they seemed to have sold pretty well.

I know KB had some association with Toy Biz via ownership, so I'm sure that effected costs, too.
