    Plaid Stallions Talking celebrities

Growing up I knew who Bozo and Mrs Beasley were but I can honestly remember having no clue what a Flip Wilson was when I saw one of his gender bending dolls on clearance.

I had to ask my Mom, who smiled and said "Oh he was funny!" which really didn't answer the question....

I remember Flip Wilson really well. At one point he seem to be everywhere from having his own TV show to guest starring on the SMDM, to even doing ringside commentary at some of Ali's fights, including the Thrilla in Manilla. He was definitely a star for that day. But like most stars back then, his star burned bright for a short period of time and then faded. I always found it curious how celebs like him could get merchandized, yet you almost never saw anything for popular shows in syndication like Lost in Space that were loaded with product potential.

It's not how hard you hit, but how hard you can be hit and still move forward.

I love Flip Wilson. Our whole family would gather to watch his show back in the day. I have a Flip/Geraldine doll, that sadly talks no more. Same w/ my Rodney Allen Rippy doll. I had one as a kid and dragged it around everywhere.

I'm still holding out for a Nipsey Russell...
Is it still insecurity if I fear my job is going to let me go because they don't realize how awesome I am?

I had the Flip doll when I was in kindergarten and my sister had the Mrs. Beasley. I'd like to get Flip again some day, but being fabric, it's hard to find nice looking ones. They tend to get grungy after forty years.

I wonder what the issue is with yours that keeps it from talking, HardyGirl. Is the string still there and everything? You might talk to someone that repairs old talking GI Joes and they might be able to walk you through a repair, depending what the issue is.

My Family loved the Flip Wilson show in the 70's. His work SHOULD be available on DVD just like others from that time period!!!

I still regret passing on a Flip doll I found in an antique store in the Amish area in PA. I didn't think it went with my collection, but that really shouldn't have mattered.
