The night that episode aired was the same night my folks to took me to KMart and they were blowing away Star Trek Movie aliens and second series Black Hole for $1.00.
I watched this in a furniture store while my folks haggled over a couch, happily playing with my humanoid, STAR and aliens.

That 2nd season still leaves a bad taste in my youth. Tho the absence of The Searcher crew makes the episode as enjoyable as Time of the Hawk.

Too obsessed to turn back
I can remember becoming engaged with the series once Hawk came into the picture. I think he brought a nice wrinkle to the stories and was a fascinating character. But I think the show had already lost the core of it's audience by that time and the show never got a chance to find its legs with this new character before it got cancelled. I think it held alot of promise.
It's not how hard you hit, but how hard you can be hit and still move forward.
As a kid I found the second season superior to the first, as an adult it's the other way around.
The first season seems to know what it is, it's just a fun show. The second season seems to be trying too hard to be "serious" science fiction.
