Thread: What paint did mego use?

  1. #1

Question What paint did mego use?

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but what kinda paint did mego originally use. I have some heads I want to restore...Just bought a Potsie on ebay with little paint rubs. It's almost like a permanent marker kind of paint, but I know that would bleed into the rest of the head. Was it just acrylic? I wouldn't think so since the heads are squishy the paint could crack. What is the answer?

    Hmmmm....

They used a special kind of paint that's not generally available to the public. For repainting original heads I use automotive interior vinyl paint. It soaks right in, bonds better than the original stuff, but it doesn't come in a lot of colours and I recommend using it outside since it's got some pretty harsh chemicals in it.

I think in ye old Toyfare days they recommended a good acrylic paint like you get at art stores. Maybe Liquitex would work?
