RIP MCA, Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys

Maybe not part of the Mego era, but for some of us, the Beastie Boys were a huge parts of our high school and college years and for me personally, one of my favorite artists of all time. I knew he was battling this for some time but was unaware it was this bad. RIP MCA....

Man, only 47 years old...that sucks.

I was into the Beastie Boys back in the day.

Some criticize their induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame...but they were highly influential in their particular genre...and they were certainly not one hit wonders...The Beastie Boys were multiple Grammy winners...had many top selling hit albums...a long career...and covered multiple genres besides rap...such as punk (as they were originally a punk band)...one of their albums was just pure instrumentation, no rap or singing...and were indeed solid musicians...not parrots rapping besides a turntable like many other hip pop acts.

    RIP Adam...

OMG...I heard this while on the road on my way home from West Virginia around the same time Ron posted this...I couldn't believe it...

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, the Beastie Boys.

I'm glad he's not suffering anymore...it was a horrible cancer.

    RIP MCA

Thats very sad news. He was an amazing musician. I've been a fan of the Beastie Boys since their first album. He will be greatly missed. R.I.P. MCA.

I seen this on the news today and was going to report it here earlier. I knew someone here would have been all over it by then though and beat me to it. I cannot think of too many people that do not like the Beastie Boys.

This is another one of those sudden deaths that came out of right field. I had no idea that he was battling cancer. What is up with all of the peeps clocking out in their 40's these days?

    RIP MCA

Wow.....I am stunned. I distinctly remember "Licensed to Ill" my last year in High School/First year in College and loved them and Run DMC. He had that special raspy voice that I really liked from them. I have a well worn LP and did buy "Licensed to Ill" on CD within the last year.
